We want everyone to be able to use novakmarek.com, whatever device, ability or settings they use.
Standard
The site is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, which also covers the WCAG 2.1 AA requirements in the Norwegian regulations on universal design of ICT. It partially meets this standard today: the problems we know about are listed under Known limitations.
Last tested: , in Chrome, Firefox and Safari at phone and desktop screen sizes, with the keyboard only, in forced-colours mode and with automated checks.
What we have done
- Contrast-checked themes: both the light and the dark theme meet at least 4.5:1 for text and 3:1 for large text, icons, focus indicators and form borders.
- Motion under your control: if your device asks for reduced motion, parallax, smooth scrolling and large animations are replaced by calm fades. The Motion switch in the menu turns animations off or on at any time, and nothing moves on its own for more than five seconds without a way to pause it.
- Keyboard and screen readers: a “Skip to content” link, a logical heading structure, visible focus outlines, labelled controls, and live announcements for form results.
- Touch: touch targets of at least 44 × 44 pixels; nothing requires tilting or shaking your phone. Every playful gesture also works with a simple tap or click.
- Content: text alternatives for images, no audio unless you switch Sound on, and the bar station video has no information that is not also given in text.
- Zoom and reflow: pages reflow on screens as narrow as 320 pixels without horizontal scrolling.
Known limitations
Our last test found these problems, which we are fixing:
- At 400% zoom, the name at the top of the home page can overlap the text below it.
- Parts of the page that stay on screen while you scroll (for example the printer in the Career section and the year buttons in Awards) can partly cover the link or button that has keyboard focus.
- On desktop, the small section links at the side of the screen can take keyboard focus before they are visible, and their labels cannot be closed with the Escape key.
- Some large headings and the large email address are cut off when you increase letter and word spacing.
- If the spam check cannot load, the contact form asks you to wait instead of offering another way to reach us.
Some decorative effects (for example the liquid and scroll effects) are not available in older browsers. They are decorative only; all content stays available without them.
